Travelling to Bariloche by Airplane

Red-backed hawk, Buteo poliosoma

After your arrival to Argentina through International Airport Ministro Pistarini (also nicknamed Ezeiza, airport code is EZE), Buenos Aires province, you can travel to Bariloche by plane, bus and by renting a car in Buenos Aires or at the airport.

Connecting flights into Bariloche depart from Aeropuerto Jorge Newbery (Aeroparque, airport code AEP), located along the coast of the Rio De la Plata (River Plate) in Buenos Aires city. You can arrange for a shuttle service to take you to Aeropuerto Jorge Newbery from the International Airport Ministro Pistarini (Ezeiza). You can also take a “remis” (hired car) service. Manuel Tienda León is one of them, and is frequently recommended.  For safety issues, we do not recommend under any circumstance to take any of the taxis or car services provided by strangers offering you these service. Be sure you take a connector, remis or taxi from the booths legally offering these services at the exit of the baggage pick up area.  If you travel in groups of 2 or more, a hired car to the Jorge Newbery Airport or “Retiro” Bus terminal is the most convenient option.

Flights to Bariloche International Airport depart daily from Buenos Aires or Santiago, Chile (airport code SCL).  We recommend that if you choose this transportation method plan to arrive in Bariloche at least 2-3 days before the beginning of the conference. Flights from Buenos Aires have an estimated duration of 2 hours.

Travelling to Bariloche by Bus

Andean Condor, Vultur gryphus

Bus is one of the most popular transportation mode in Argentina. Buses are very comfortable, and you will find that they have a much higher frequency than planes, delays using buses are the exception. Buses depart from Retiro terminal, and several companies offer this service which includes meals, games, TVs, restrooms on board and the opportunity to relax and enjoy the sighting form a comfortable seat that can be transformed in an even more comfortable bed. IF these possibilities don’t help you to decide for a bus trip think buses are usually not affected by the same complications associated with air traffic, bad weather, overbooking, delays, and volcano ashes! Finally, you can see very interesting landscapes and wildlife (yes of course, this include raptors), from very comfortable and panoramic windows.  Did you try to birdwatch from the plane? You will see lot more of species by using the bus!!
